QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Questions about SIMS and Labs

How the software works, what our laboratories do, and where we’re taking them together.

What is SIMS?

SIMS, the Scientific Intelligence Management System, is Finepoint’s software for scientific teams. It brings AI, research, collaboration, documents, calculations, and process execution into one system. Teams can work across multiple workspaces, involve external collaborators, and review and approve work with built-in electronic signatures.

How do SIMS and Finepoint Labs fit together?

SIMS is the software we build; Finepoint Labs provides the people, facilities, and services for work in the laboratory. We bring these capabilities together around a client’s project, with partners adopting SIMS able to support work beyond our own facilities.

Does SIMS replace scientific review?

No. AI can help analyze information, calculate, compare approaches, and prepare work. Scientists still assess the findings and make decisions. SIMS supports their review and approval, with a history of contributions, changes, and signatures.

How do documents, calculations, and processes work together?

Define forms with the data and formulas your work needs. Issue an approved form as a record, then use processes to track stages, responsibilities, and decisions. Documents, entries, calculations, and review history stay connected.

Does SIMS already connect AI research with laboratory experiments?

That is part of our long-term vision. Today, we offer SIMS and laboratory services. We want to connect them more closely over time: AI helps develop ideas, scientists test them, and the results inform what comes next. That work depends on scientific expertise, suitable facilities, and the licences needed for each activity.

What laboratory work can Finepoint support?

Our own analytical capabilities include potency testing, safety and compliance testing, stability studies, microbial testing, method validation, and custom programs. Our facilities hold Health Canada DEL and CDS licences and follow cGMP practices. For other scientific work, we can scope the project with you and involve partners adopting SIMS where their capabilities are needed.

What is available in SIMS Cloud and on-premises?

SIMS Cloud includes AI, collaboration, documents, forms and records, formulas, process execution, multiple workspaces, external access, and electronic signatures. Finepoint also supports specialized on-premises deployments for Clinical Research, Manufacturing, and Quality Control. We can help you decide how SIMS should fit your team and infrastructure.

How does SIMS handle access and signatures?

Set access by organization, workspace, and record, including access for external collaborators. Reviews and electronic signatures keep approvals tied to named people and the work they approved. Activity history helps your team follow changes and prepare for audits.

How do we start?

Try SIMS Cloud at simsai.co with the project, team, or process you want to work on. For a specialized on-premises deployment, help adopting AI, laboratory work, a partnership, or an investment conversation, contact Finepoint.

Which agreements apply to software and laboratory services?

This website provides general information. SIMS access and laboratory services are covered by their own agreements, order forms, and applicable quality documents.
